Tropical Cyclone Watch Issued for Southeast Queensland & Northeast NSW
Attention Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and Byron Bay: Tropical Cyclone Alfred is moving towards our coast from Tuesday onwards. A Cyclone Watch is now in effect, and it’s important to be prepared as the storm is expected to intensify.
Cyclone Alfred (Category 1): Winds near the centre of 85 km/h, gusting up to 120 km/h.
Location: 465 km east-northeast of Brisbane.
Movement: Southeast at 20 km/h, expected to turn westward towards the coast by Tuesday.
Cyclone Alfred is expected to intensify to a Category 2 cyclone tonight and could strengthen further as it approaches the coast late Thursday.
